Background
In 1997, Coastal Waters Recreation was created to produce a series of recreational maps specializing in popular sea kayaking destinations. From that obscure beginning CWR "Marine Recreation Maps" have become a very well known product and used by ever increasing numbers of paddlers. The inspiration for CWP originated from this, the result of conversations at sea kayak trade shows and countless lectures with sea kayak clubs. Our most popular request from these events was a request for us to develop a DVD. With increasing interest in this idea, we started production in the summer of 2008 when we began work on updating our earlier maps. During subsequent summers we managed to cover the rest of our mapping areas covering Vancouver Island to produce two DVD's of destinations around Vancouver Island, British Columbia. We have tentatively titled this series, "Water Ventures" and will be designed much the same as our multimedia presentations that had been received very well in the past. We also started work on subsequent projects covering Baja, Mexico and Caribbean waters along with several others that are still in a developmental phase.

The focus of this website is to provide a link between both companies, Coastal Waters Recreation(Marine Recreation Maps) and Coastal Waters Productions(Water Ventures). CWG focus will be to promote a social and networking site, with blogging, Calendar of Events and trip information from our SPOT receiver, so one can follow our latest whereabouts.
